The relevant elephant
It’s a jungle out there, but when it comes to the Internet - in the world of Search Engines anyway - there’s only one real beast that matters. Would it be stretching the cliché too far to identify the beast as being huge, grey and possessing big ears? Let’s hope not as it will give us a nice title. It’s an elephant and surprise, surprise its name is Google. For

Cyber crime attacks on Internet users are nothing new. But recent investigations by security experts see the latest threats as coming from the former Soviet Union and other Eastern Bloc countries. When is a link not a link
It’s a fact of modern SEO that link popularity is now THE dominant factor in who ranks the highest on Google. With 16.5 million monthly visitors you’d imagine having links from the BBC would be an ideal way of racking up link brownie points. Other major search engines such as Yahoo and MSN also give a strong emphasis to back links for their ranking criteria so there too a nice outbound link from the BBC should (you’d have thought) really boost your Page Ranking. After all, if your site is well optimised AND has a stronger number of good inbound links from quality, relevant websites like the BBC you will out rank the competition won’t you? For

The Sandbox Theory - How to escape the SEO Venus flytrap
For those of us who have heard of the Venus flytrap know that it traps flies and spiders in it’s jaw like leaves and hold them there with no escape while it slowly devours them. It would appear that Search Engine Optimisation has its own Venus flytrap known as the ‘sandbox theory’, although we don’t know if it really does exist. However going by popular speculation from many search professionals, it does exist in various argued forms and is a danger to new websites. Luckily, unlike its Amazon counterpart it does not completely devour its prey. For

The
nemesis of Search engine optimisation
There are man things money can buy; such as the services of a good SEO agency. However there are some things which not only transcend the power of money but also dilute the impact of the services that have already been undertaken. These are the inherent constrains in a website that are overlooked at the time of developed as design agencies do not always keep in mind your search engine optimisation plans when developing a website. This results in unwarranted disputes and numerous delays always resulting in additional costs. These can be easily overcome if at the time of developed a few factors are kept in mind. Search engine optimisation has built a reputation of being a bit of a maverick in online advertising. Most SEO agencies don’t hesitate to build a myriad of links, content and Meta tags but very few are able to back up all the resources that have been consumed with a tangible return. As a result despite following the best practice guidelines, agencies are not able to retain advertisers and barely has an advertiser signed up with an agency are they in the process of sourcing a new one.
