The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said on Tuesday it was investigating the presence of smallpox in monkeys in the UK. What is worrying is that animals can spread the disease and it gets out of the control of health officials.
A case was reported in a monkey in the UK earlier this month, after which seven people were diagnosed with the disease. In one of these cases, a person who was recently in Nigeria, a country identified as a potential transmitter of the disease, and the others were in contact with each other.

Authorities believe they may have already contaminated British soil.
Measles infection rate is low
Monkey is a viral infection that usually occurs while traveling to Africa. It is often a mild, self-limiting disease that spreads through very close contact with someone who is older, and most people will recover in a few weeks. According to the British Health Agency, the risk of infection in the general population is very low.
The virus is not easily spread among the population and the risk to the population is low. However, the latest developments are in the LGBTQIA + community, so the organization advises these groups to be vigilant if any abnormal rash or ulcers occur on any part of the body, especially the genitals.
The World Health Organization estimates that the chances of an outbreak in the UK are low, but the source of the infection in Nigeria is unknown and the risk of transmission is high.
Low mortality
The monkey box develops from the original disease and is considered less severe than the initial strain. The most common symptoms include fever, headache, lethargy, swelling, muscle aches and especially skin rash.
Symptoms are usually mild and transient, but about 1 in 100 people will die.
