Is content really the king in internet marketing?

We often come across a phrase on the internet – ‘Content is king’. How true is it? Every online business owner considers usability, design and content optimisation as three important factors in their internet marketing strategy. We put a lot of effort on the aesthetics and usability factors of our website and often forget one of the most important aspects of internet marketing; the content.

Content plays a very important role in SEO (search engine optimisation)as original content is a search engines favourite. Even the website visitor needs some attractive and convincing content to become your customer. So, make sure you create real, relevant and original content. If you create quality content you can draw large traffic and satisfy the search engines, which in turn will provide your website higher rankings in search results and probably good business.

Tips to create good quality content:

  • Never use abstract language on your website unless your business is abstract.

  • Never be bombastic; use clear, concise and a positive style of writing.

  • Do not use lengthy write-ups; limit them to 400-500 words.

  • Do proper interlinking in the content.

  • Present content clearly and in an organized manner.

  • Do not use cloaking or sneaky redirects.

  • Do not create doorway pages specifically for search engines.

  • Do not create multiple pages, domains with duplicate content or sub domains.

  • Do not use irrelevant keywords or phrases in the content.

  • Do not use copied content.

  • Keep a check on the frequency of keywords used in the content.

  • Hire a professional for creating your website content and explain your requirement very clearly.
