Meanwhile, Richard Wright, marketing director at the firm, claimed that the onus will be on marketers to use social networking as an effective website optimisation tool.
He noted: "Consumers are going to demand more, because there're more channels for them to communicate through."
Firms working on a search engine marketing campaign can always drive traffic to their website through social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace, which could boost performance by allowing a company to set up back-links.
And, according to video marketing expert Matt Smith, creating viral content is an excellent way to kick-start the process as it will entice users to your social media portals.
He noted: "Consumers are going to demand more, because there're more channels for them to communicate through."
