Website optimisation specialists have five years to prepare for smartphone takeover

Search Engine Optimisation News

Google has been shouting about how its future lies in converged devices - and in particular smartphones. And when the world's most popular search engine announces where it is taking its business, every SEO agency in the country's ears prick up. Website optimisation has been developing in a number of ways over the past few years, but no area has advanced as rapidly as mobile rendering.

Fortunately, while there are seismic shifts taking place in the search engine optimisation world, there is also a bit of lag time between the latest website optimisation frontier and its adoption by consumers and businesses. And this delay is particularly apparent in the smartphone sector. Undoubtedly, every SEO agency will have to ensure that their search engine marketing strategies account for the impending increase in smartphone use, but if they start preparing now they should have plenty of time to get to grips with website optimisation techniques that are particularly effective on the platform.

According to industry analyst Frost & Sullivan, the smartphone market will remain highly fragmented for the next five years. But, the key to becoming successful in the mobile website optimisation sector could lie in the ability to spot trends and listen to end users.

In its 'The Race of Smartphones, What Next? Impetus in OS and Technology Innovation in Smartphones' report, Frost & Sullivan claimed: "Users are moving towards a complex and rich mobile experience made of communication, entertainment and productivity services. The smartphones are the right devices for this experience.

"Their role will increasingly become vital in the mobile communications market driving diffusion of new services and applications."

The moral of the story is that there is plenty of time to make way for the huge adoption of mobile search engine marketing, but successful strategies will have to be geared towards specific end users.
