Good SEO 'essential' for new businesses

Having effective search engine optimisation (SEO) implementation is essential for any business which is starting up. With a high Google ranking a must for any new company hoping to attract clients, Helium.com has issued advice to any would-be entrepreneurs hoping to strike it big – with effective SEO one of its key tips.

Mouhcine Azizoun, writing for the news provider, said that SEO knowledge should rank alongside marketing knowledge before any firm can even think about making a profit in an increasingly online world.

"If you do not have these four things, the likelihood that you will fail is high. You may start your online business, but will your business withstand the test of time?" he asked.

Mr Azizoun pointed out that success is not only something which must be achieved, but which must also be maintained, and this is simply not possible on today's world without excellent SEO knowledge and implementation.

"SEO is a very important thing when it comes to e-business. If you do not have any knowledge of SEO, you may make some flagrant mistakes that will hurt your company," the writer added.

The source also noted that many people with little knowledge about SEO are employing black hat techniques – regarded as poor practice in the industry.

A recent Financial Times article noted that this tactic is increasingly used less as a search engine marketing technique and increasingly by cybercriminals looking to deliver malware to unsuspecting web users, which will in turn lead to search engines banning their websites.

Mr Azizoun said that avoiding this tactic and employing the use of a firm which will adopt white hat techniques – or those considered good practice – is the key to success and being held in higher regard.

With Microsoft's Cedric Chambaz also recently telling Computing magazine that it was "vitally important" for every SEO Company to be aware of the importance of a good user experience and to avoid black hat SEO techniques, it seems that the industry is uniting to offer the most pertinent SEO advice.
