Search Engine Optimisation News

Search giant Google has continued to lavish website optimisation hints and tips on businesses as it attempts to drive up advertising revenues. The firm is hoping to put every SEO agency on a level playing field with its open policy on search engine marketing hints and tips. Earlier this week, Google made it clear that independent financial advisers should tap into the financial benefits of running an effective search engine optimisation strategy. Now successful link building is the focus of Google's search engine marketing education programme.

Writing on Google's Webmaster Central blog, search engine optimisation strategist Kaspar Szymanski said that link building is one of the best ways an SEO agency can drive traffic to its clients' websites.

According to Szymanski, effective link building works extremely well alongside other website optimisation techniques and is an excellent long-term strategy as it can both build a company's reputation and put website content under the noses of internet users who would not normally stumble across it.

As well as interacting with potential customers on social networking sites, traditional brand building and reputation improvement can help to bolster a website optimisation link building strategy.

"Just building a reputation can drive people to your site. And they will keep on visiting it and linking to it," Mr Szymanski said.

However, he added that failure to create top-class content will be the downfall of any link building strategy. It is all well and good getting hundreds of links to your website out onto the internet, but if users do not engage with the content they find then a company is effectively losing out on potential sales. What's more, poor quality content can actually damage a company's online reputation and if links are not well maintained, then users may not even make it to their intended destination.

Mr Szymanski also highlighted the importance of ongoing website optimisation strategies, claiming: "We do not recommend counting only on short-lived link bait tactics.

"Their appeal wears off quickly."

Recently, H. S. Paik, president of LG Electronics in the Gulf, claimed that intelligent link building was a core aspect of the firm's long-term search engine optimisation strategy.
