Search Engine Optimisation News
HTML5 has been touted by a number of web developers as the next big thing at the Google I/O conference last week. And it's hardly surprising. It has been almost a decade since HTML has undergone a major overhaul, and the changes in the search engine optimisation industry as a result of the implementation of HTML5 should not be underestimated. In fact any SEO agency worth their slat will have to pick up on the new techniques incorporated in HTML5 if their clients are to stay ahead of the game.
Both web browser creators Mozilla and Opera got behind the new web design format - particularly the proposed royalty-free video format - which has the potential to push flash out of the marketplace and work wonders for any SEO agency with experience of digital video marketing.
So why are companies which specialise in search engine marketing so happy with the new standard?
Well first of all, HTML5 is entirely multi-platform and is being adopted by practically every important web-software and hardware manufacturer and SEO agency on the planet. One of the problems of Flash and Silverlight formats - aside from the lack of search engine optimisation benefits - is that they only work on certain devices - whereas the new royalty-free VP8 codec and WebM format will allow for entirely free video publication.
This alone will make video website optimisation much more accessible.
Speaking to Media Post, Sean Stahlman, senior SEO engineer at Razorfish, claimed that every SEO agency must keep their clients abreast of the latest developments in the world of website optimisation - particularly HTML5.
He told the news provider that proper website development can easily boost a company's search engine marketing efforts.
Mr Stahlman claimed that HTML5 will help search engine algorithms - such as those used by Google - to understand a website's content as well as its structure - potentially making its accessibility and loading time criteria more important when it comes to website optimisation.
Apple has received a large amount of criticism for not adopting Flash compatibility on its iPhone and iPad products. However, the firm will be taking on board the new HTML5 standard and Steve Jobs himself has claimed that Flash is now obsolete, with HTML5 taking up the flag.
