Search Engine Optimisation News
Black hat search engine optimisation strategies were the talk of the website optimisation world a few months back. A huge number of SEO agencies came to the fore to champion ethical search engine optimisation in all its guises.
Making it sound like search engine marketing used to be a dark and dangerous practice that could leave companies - and their reputations - high and dry, this new wave of SEO Company purists believed that they were the first to combine ethical practices with the need for increased performance and return-on-investment.
All of a sudden search engine optimisation was a shining example of marketing best practice - when done properly at least. But, sifting through the history of search engine marketing and it is clear that the evolution of ethical SEO was not so straightforward.
More to the point, with the advent of video website optimisation, it seems that many an SEO company has conveniently forgotten the exacting standards by which their normal, ethical, search engine marketing campaigns are based on.
Industry expert Daniel Solden told Reel SEO that a number of firms are using black hat SEO techniques to ramp up firm's website optimisation strategies - a move that in the long run is potentially dangerous.
He added that while some techniques, such as offering additional video views for cash, are not currently frowned upon as much as traditional search engine spamming techniques, they soon will be. And every unethical SEO Company that has partaken in search engine marketing in this grey area will have to repent and reinvent themselves as a legitimate firm or continue hiding in the shadows.
Solden told Reel SEO: "A true white hat video search engine optimisation company will work to provide high quality, highly targeted video promotion services - specialising in getting results by reaching the right people."
"Instead of getting a few views per video, each video will be worked to its maximum, targeting by interest group, keywords, location, and demographics," he added.
Video SEO is something that is well worth pursuing; but only if it is done well. Getting lumbered with an unethical video SEO company will just do damage in the long run - both to your reputation and, potentially, your bottom line.
