Search Engine Optimisation News

As the global economy begins to show signs of recovery and businesses' budgets for search engine marketing grow it will become increasing difficult for firms to implement outstanding SEO (search engine optimisation) campaigns without the advice of a professional SEO Company.

Competition for keyword supremacy is already high and if recent comments by Jake Hird, a senior research analyst at digital marketing and ecommerce community Econsultancy, are to be believed, search marketing is set to get more challenging.

Mr Hird cited research conducted by the search engine marketing Professional Organisation, which found that almost half of businesses would be reallocating spending from print advertising to search engine optimisation campaigns this year.

He noted that expertise from a professional marketing firm was becoming increasingly vital as search engine marketing is "more complex" than email marketing, which he claimed has changed little over the past five years.

However, Yahoo has made an attempt at taking SEO back to basics with a new tome aimed at improving businesses chances when it comes to obtaining a high ranking on search engine results pages.

The Yahoo Style Guide: The Ultimate Sourcebook for Writing, Editing, And Creating Content For The Digital World, will be released on July 6th and will cover a number of topics including developing clear and compelling copy, adapting content to suit different devices and - most importantly - optimising web pages to boost their search engine profile.

Yahoo claims to have been working on its SEO (search engine optimisation) magnus opus for the past 15 years as a direct result of the lack of concrete search marketing industry guidelines.

"Writers and programmers at Yahoo, faced with a lack of industry guidance 15 years ago, began cobbling together a set of guidelines for web writing," the book's press release states.

It adds: "Yahoo content creators have built and added to the guide ever since, making it the go-to manual inside Yahoo."

However, Mr Barnard went on to say that "if there were to be a double-dip recession we would have to call these figures into question because the ad industry is directly tied to the economy".

As search marketing gets more competitive, the pressure is on firms to leverage more resources in building their online reputation - something which can become costly, unless the task is outsourced to a professional SEO Company which has a dedicated infrastructure in place wholly suited to boosting campaign return-on-investment.
