Search Engine Optimisation News
Voice mobile search provider Vlingo has released its top ten most searched for terms via mobile internet access, search engine optimisation (SEO) specialists may be interested to know.
Perhaps predictably, YouTube, Facebook and Myspace are the top three.
However, the list reveals smartphone users are accessing the mobile internet for practical reasons as well as social networking, with the fourth and fifth most popular searches being weather and movie times.
Twitter takes sixth place, followed by the Yellow Pages, MapQuest and craigslists.
In tenth place is the White Pages.
So where are the searches for Michael Jackson and other top news stories of 2009?
Unlike traditional web searches that focus on specific search terms, mobile web users tend to search for more specific sites and resources, explained Vlingo president Dave Grannan.
He added that mobile web search was very popular on Vlingo, accounting for over 20 per cent of all usage.
New figures have suggested that use of the mobile web is on the rise worldwide.
Browser maker Opera has stated that the number of people using its Mini mobile product jumped by 5.3 per cent in November to 41.7 million compared with the previous month.
