Companies looking to redesign their websites as the
new year approaches should address a number of search engine optimisation (SEO) strategies before taking their developments too far, it has been claimed.
According to internet marketing consultant Jill Whalen, it is essential to keep SEO at the forefront of a company's operations while designing a site in order not to lose old business and to gain additional visitors when the new website goes live.
Writing for ISEdb.com, she recommended that content that was previously bringing targeted search engine traffic should not be buried too deeply within a site during its design.
"When people are seeking information from a search engine, they usually have a question, a problem, or a need for specific information," she added.
"The more ways you can categorize your content for the various target markets you serve, the better."
This week, Jaamit Durrani of Econsultancy said that (SEO) links should be written in the singular as opposed to plural in order to maximise their effectiveness.
