engine optimisation (SEO) need not necessitate the full rebuilding of a website for it to be effective, with one technology source recommending a range of ways to avoid this conclusion.
Karl Hodge of TechRadar UK explained that while people cannot expect to get to the top of Google's search rankings overnight, they can certainly improve their fortunes with a little effort and more time.
Businesses using SEO (search engine optimisation) in the UK ought to use meaningful document names as these can be followed by Google with greater ease, it was argued, while speeding up a website - such as through the lowering of file sizes like with pictures - can also affect page rank.
Furthermore, organisations should ensure their landing page is as good as possible, with Mr Hodge explaining: "The landing page for your site should assure search engines it's one of the best hits for the topic users have searched for.
"That means relevant, textual content filling up your front page."
A recent study by IT recruitment agency CV Screen shows that demand for personnel with SEO skills jumped by 40 per cent during the last 12 months, while the average salary for an SEO specialist in the UK is now over £30,000.
