Firms should make optimising the page titles of their website their first priority, according to one expert.

Search engine optimisation commentator Stephen Woessner says businesses of all sizes can boost their web traffic in just a few weeks without investing anything except their time and expertise.

In an interview with bMighty he urges all companies to add meta descriptions to their web pages and spend time picking the best keywords for their search engine optimisation strategy.

"Keywords should be relevant to the business and actually used by their potential customers," Mr Woessner explained.

"The other thing is link building. Given the same content, popularity wins," the online marketing expert continued, urging business owners to see link building as an ongoing process.

He points out that an effective search engine optimisation strategy can see traffic go up by 20 or 30 per cent in just a few weeks and ratings improve "dramatically".
