Socially engineered virus-carriers 'on the rise'

Social Media Optimisation News
Anyone dealing with search engine optimisation may be interested to know that socially engineered virus-carriers are on the rise, according to security experts Sophos.
In a blog posting Sophos security expert Graham Cluley highlighted the danger of 'socially engineered' virus exploits. These exploits are generally virus-laden emails, masquerading as legitimate messages from would-be lovers.
Mark Fullbrook, director of UK and Ireland for security experts Cyber-Ark Software, explains that, contrary to common knowledge, IT security is not a total solution: "IT infrastructure is like a bank. You walk in and there are different levels of security."
He recommends that users adopt a 'vault' solution, where they have access to a secure repository for their electronic data, because it "allows you to have a very secure repository of information, while still having a general area, so if there is a breach it is within the lower-level data, not the higher-level".
A recent report by WatchGuard Technologies highlights that socially engineered hacks are particularly effective because of the 'trusted' environment they take place in.
