Social Media Optimisation News
With the recent announcement that Twitter updates will now be integrated into Google search results, businesses should be aware of just how the popular microblogging site can improve their Google search ranking.
Social media optimisation, or SMO , is the new watchword for techniques to promote a site in social media networks and uses methods which are similar to SEO (search engine optimisation) practices, according to the SEO Consult Blog.
However implementing SMO is slightly trickier, because businesses only have 140 characters to get their point across.
Keywords and branding are both still important, so keep posts consistent with the company's usual content, said the blog.
Similarly, the information that is posted should be interesting. Instead of linking everything directly back to the business, a Twitter campaign should try to engage people in talk about the company's subject without blatant marketing.
And interesting tweets can also start having a life of their own, so remember that hard work on an interesting post could always result in a viral.
